ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Raised in New York, Julia was heavily influenced by the fashion scene and always had a dream of starting a sweatshirt brand one day. Unable to find the perfect, feel good sweatshirt to gift her friends' kids for Christmas, she designed her own. The sweatshirts were so well received that she teamed up with her longtime friend Marilena Funck - born in Düsseldorf and a cosmopolitan spirit. Marilena grew up immersed in the world of fashion & lifestyle, inspired by her mother, a designer who handcrafted unique pieces for her kids and by the chic, athletic aesthetic of her lifelong passion for tennis. With a deep passion for lifestyle and branding, Marilena brings a wealth of international experience from her career with different premium lifestyle brands and business understanding. In 2022, Julia and Marilena joined forces to launch CHIO MI.

Together they want to bring fun to the whole family and give back to others. With every sweatshirt purchase, a day of school at the Omomas Care Center in Namibia is made possible for a child. This is a project of ‘GRUND FÜR GUTES’ and a small contribution expected to expand to larger projects in the future.
